Operation Flashpoint's Czech tactical action from the first person view, which captures a fictitious conflict between the Soviet Army and NATO troops set in 1985 on a lonely archipelago, where the NATO base and training camp. The game puts maximum emphasis on realism, so you can kill one stray bullet. Flashpoint is more a war simulator in which you have to follow orders and pray to survive.
Throughout the campaign, you play a total of four characters - an American soldier David Armstrong, who at the time of attack by Soviet forces completing their training, inexperienced trooper Robert Hammer, Sam Nichols pilot who can fly a helicopter or fighter A-10 Thunderbolt, and James Gastovsky, a sovereign member of the special forces. The possibilities are truly countless, you will control tanks, aircraft and later commanded the entire team. All this in a very vast area of several islands, which has a total of several tens of square kilometers.
The authors have put a lot of care to elaborate contemporary technology - weapons and vehicles in the game are countless and behave realistically, only the actual firing of the gun can take anyone who is accustomed to the typical action games with sight and display the percentage of lives.
Later came also a prequel to the OFP named Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, which explains the sudden increase in power in the Soviet General Güby everonsky area.
Brand Operation Flashpoint later fell Codemasters, who have utilized it for the game Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Operation Flashpoint: Red River, which is why the new re-edition of OFP has come under the name ArmA: Cold War Assault.
